TAMPA, FL – Tampa-based labor and employment law firm Johnson Jackson PLLC is pleased to announce the addition of two new Associate Attorneys, Julia Lagnese and Michael Garvey. Both attorneys will support the firm’s clients by guiding employers through a wide range of employment-related matters at every stage of litigation. With these new hires, Johnson Jackson’s attorney roster grows to 11, marking the highest total in the firm’s history.
“We are very pleased to add Julia and Michael to our team,” says Johnson Jackson Co-Founding Shareholder, Kevin Johnson. “They are smart, detail-oriented, and thorough. Bringing them on board will help us expand our capacity to serve our clients and provide them the trusted advice that they expect."
Lagnese received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in Gainesville, Florida, where she served as the Executive Student Works Editor of the Florida Entertainment and Sports Law Review. Lagnese earned her B.S. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina.
“I am thrilled to be a part of Johnson Jackson's continued growth and further develop my practice of employment law as a part of the team,” Lagnese says. “My goal is to alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty our clients may face when navigating complex legal issues by providing them practical, client-centered solutions.”
Garvey earned his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida and his B.A. in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. Garvey began law school at Seton Hall University School of Law in South Orange, New Jersey, where he served as an Associate Editor for the Seton Hall Journal of Legislation and Public Policy, and first joined Johnson Jackson as a summer law clerk.
“The firm’s focus on collaboration and mentorship makes it the ideal place to build my legal career,” Garvey says. “I’m most looking forward to learning from, and working alongside, such a talented group of attorneys who are passionate about their work and dedicated to their clients.”
In their roles with Johnson Jackson, Lagnese and Garvey will handle a variety of employment defense matters in both state and federal court, including defending against Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Florida Commission on Human Relations charges, mediating and arbitrating claims, and assisting employers to establish and enforce policies in compliance with employment laws.
